Cross and Dove Kit

The kit for this cross is shown at the right. The walnut parts are cut to make a tight fitting lap joint. The staff is 5/8" x 1 1/2" x 12", and the cross piece is 5/8" x 1 1/2" x 7". The lap joint is tight and has no gaps at the intersection.

The assembly of the cross should be done first. This will allow you to decide where you wish to place the dove on the cross. The dove is bonded to the oak vertical piece. There is nothing critical about the location. However, you will need to locate the final position of the dove and mark it on the back of the carving blank. Then, don't carve on the bonding area.

I will have 10 kits ready to ship. I thought I would start with a small number to test the waters. However, I can make more in a few days, so any delay in shipment won't be too long.

The sheet shown below shows the 4 primary views of the dove. This sheet, along with the note on assembly, comes with each kit.
